Rationalisation of Student furniture in Govt schools

This document is an official directive from August 31, 2025, from the District Education Officers in Rahimyarkhan, Punjab, to the (M-EE/W-EE/SE), outlining a three-day plan for rationalizing furniture in government schools. The directive instructs Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) to survey schools for furniture, checking for items in excess of current enrollment and 10% extra for future use. AEOs will also inspect store rooms, list dumped furniture, and, with School Council members and a carpenter, identify and recommend repairable furniture for immediate fixing. Finally, a formal data report and a joint meeting with Deputy DEOs will be held to create an action plan for transferring furniture to needy schools.

Detailed Steps for AEOs

1. Conduct a Survey:
AEOs must survey all schools within their respective Marakiz (clusters or areas).

2. Assess Furniture:
Verify that the furniture count aligns with the school’s enrollment, ensuring an additional 10% is available for future use.

3. Inspect Storage:
Check school storerooms to list all “dump furniture” in the presence of the AEO.

4. Evaluate Furniture:
After identifying broken furniture from the stores, the School Council, the Head Teacher, and a technical expert (a carpenter) should examine it to determine which pieces are repairable.

5. Repair Furniture:
Based on the School Council’s recommendation, all repairable furniture is to be repaired immediately.

6. Generate Report:
Complete and submit a report (in both hard and soft copies) to the Deputy DEO with data including the Markaz, School Name, EMIS code, enrollment, furniture (total, 10% for future, and excess).

Next Steps for Deputy DEOs

Action Planning: Deputy DEOs must hold a joint meeting with all AEOs to develop an action plan for redistributing furniture to schools in need.

Timeline
The entire furniture rationalization activity must be completed within three days.

Specific Instructions for the Secondary Wing
